Sure, the people in the main tourist places speak pretty good English nowadays, but it’s still a good idea to learn some of the most useful Thai words / phrases if you travel through Thailand on your own – to bargain with a market vendor or Tuk Tuk driver, to ask for the directions to some place, or even to put a smile on the face of the waitress in the restaurant.
So in today’s post, I’ll show you 25 words and phrases you will surely find useful.
That’s not too overwhelming if you are just here for a week or two and don’t see the need to buy a proper beginner’s book, but still a nice repertoire which will be useful in a lot of different situations.
- Note: You can put the polite particle “kráp” (for men) or “kâ” (for women) at the end of any sentence to make your question or statement more polite.
